Brief Biography:
Silvia was born and grew up in Rome, then moved to the USA for undergraduate and to London for postgraduate studies. She works as a product and web designer and runs her own company, Nimble Critters, together with Jesus Felipe. She lives in London with her daughter Clara, her husband Rob, and her dog, Bica.

Research & Teaching:
Before taking over as Course Director Silvia has taught at several universities and colleges in the USA and the UK. Her area of research is emotional design, surprise and narrative in design and physical interactions with objects. She has presented papers at the last two Design and Emotion conferences in Hong Kong and Sweden as well as at the DeSForM conference at Northumbria University. She wrote a chapter included the book Design & Emotion Moves, published by Cambridge Scholars Press and edited by Pieter Desmet, Jeroen Van Erp and MariAnne Karlsson

Recent Work:
With Nimble Critters Silvia has developed the ETree, an interactive electroluminescent light which has been exhibited at the London Design festival and Milan Furniture Fair as well as being in small run production. The Ta-Da series was developed out of an MA dissertation looking at how surprise can be used in design to create memorable emotional experiences and has been exhibited at London Design Festival. Nimble Critters also consults on product design, branding and web design and has recently designed the website for the Fashion Film Festival.
